Birds: The birds have joined forces with the chipmunks and squirrels. Their goal is to eat us out of house and home. Oh, I'm still filling the feeders with seed every other day, but the creatures are consuming every last bit of it within 24 hours. I think the munks have even started digging though my pots, looking for grubs; I can only hope they don't destroy the plants I've managed to keep alive.
Plants: Speaking of which, the strawberries in the planters have died. Why, one whole planter -- the one on the far right of the porch, the one that gets the most sun -- has become a graveyard of hopes. Undaunted, I've decided to dump the lot and try again. The strawberries in the brown pot by the stairs continues to grow. Saw a small berry appear just this morning.
Purchased: Picked up some more dirt from Gardeners as well as a bag of Vt. compost. Also received four new planters: two medium-sized white urns and two giant blue pots. I have great plans in store for them.
Water: Watering remains a real pleasure, a zen-like activity that also gets me outside for the 10 minutes my skin requires on an almost daily basis to suck in enough Vitamin D from Ra's rays, yet not so much that I'm drained of the will to live.
Weather: Currently 62F with a light breeze. Low 56, High 78F. Mostly cloudy.
