Birds: Refilled the bird feeders and cleaned out the water bowls. The chipmunks have been getting rather bold lately, scurrying across the deck and hiding in the butterfly bush. The cats are loving the excitement (though I sense murderous thoughts as well). Plants: Two more seedlings have appeared, this time in the sunflower pot. Woot! Also seeing more seedlings in the no-fertilizer deck planter. I specifically chose flowers that would appeal to local wildlife, particularly the bees and the butterflies. Seems to have worked; we're definitely seeing more pollinators in the backyard. If a bee lands on you, should you swat it away or remain still until it flies off? Asking as someone who's never been stung and would like to continue the streak. :::Googling::: Okay, cool. According to the San Diego Zoo, if a bee lands on you, stand still and let it fly away on its own. Don’t try to swat it away. Also, bees are pretty interesting. Pruning: Deadheaded some of the marigolds. Will be removing the dead parsley, catnip and chocolate mint next. Weather: Currently 71F and muggy. Low 69F, High 83F. Dark Sky says it's going to be mostly cloudy and overcast but it's pretty freakin' sunny this morning. Time to barbecue!
