Hooks and leaves
Birds: I refilled the bird feeder by the dining room and replaced the water in the sunflower.
Hooks: I cleaned and installed 3 new shepherds hooks in the backyard. They're taller than I had expected -- I wanted the top of the hook to be even with the top of the fence -- but I think the hanging baskets will still look nice on them, particularly with the white backdrop. I hung the dark sky petunias and admired them. Will add more baskets, bird feeders and the wind chimes soon.
Plants: Apparently there's something wrong with my catnip. The leaves are not growing thickly and they're turning red. Did some research online and discovered the soil needs more nutrients. Will definitely do so when I transplant outside. Also noticed the lettuce and basil in the Aerogardens turning a bit yellow in spots. Not enough water?
The tree at the base of the driveway is still full of white flowers. The tree in the front that we thought was sick/dead has sprouted beautiful pink flowers. The rhododendrons are in full pink/purple bloom. And the box in front of the windows has sprouted pink buds. Daffodils have started to wither. Wonder if I should deadhead or just cut them down? Tulips and peonies look lovely under the box but could probably use some support.
Pruning: I pruned back the lettuce and herbs in the Aerogardens. They were getting a bit scraggly.
Purchased: Finally purchased my Moroccan urns for the front of the house. Have been wanting them for three years and today was the first time I could a) get the planters I wanted and 2) afford them. They were $79/each from Home Depot -- not cheap but a real steal when you consider they cost $99/each at Wayfair and $114/each via Amazon.
Water: Outside, I watered the petunias as well as the strawberries and the blueberries. Inside, I topped up all of the Aerogardens and watered the strawberries, catnip and lavender.
Weather: Currently 62F. Low 39F, High 63F. PM thunderstorm forecast with rain, high winds and possible hail.
